Turbines

The best option for wind turbines at Bryant is the vertical axis turbine (which can be seen on the right). The VisionAir3 stands at 10.5ft. with a width of 6ft. This type of turbine is designed to be placed in locations with limited amounts of space compared to a traditional horizontal style wind turbine. The vertical axis style has a lower wind start up speed making it easier to capture wind energy. Going with this style will not take up any additional land on the Bryant campus as we suggest placing it on top of buildings such as the Rotunda. In doing this, you not only save campus land for future endeavors, but also allow the wind turbine to capture the higher wind speeds found on the top of the building. The vertical axis wind turbines are an easier installation and less expensive compared to its counterpart of the horizontal axis turbine.
